Transforming LAAO Planning With 3D Simulations: Clinical Evidence, Accuracy and Real-World Impact
Watch this insightful webinar that delves into the transformative potential of 3D simulation technology in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) procedures. Moderated by Dr Nicolas Van Mieghem, this expert-led session explores how advanced 3D modeling and simulations are reshaping structural heart interventions.
Our distinguished panel of clinicians, including Dr Devi Nair, Dr Ole De Backer, Dr Omar Khalique and Dr Matthew Price, discuss key topics ranging from the clinical validation of LAAO simulations to their impact on planning accuracy, patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness. Viewers will gain insights into real-world cases showcasing the application of simulation technology, along with a glimpse into the future with transcatheter valve simulations.
Whether you're a clinician, researcher, or healthcare professional, this video series promises to provide valuable knowledge to enhance your approach to LAAO interventions and beyond.

Faculty Biographies
Nicolas M Van Mieghem
Full Professor of Interventional Cardiology
Prof Van Mieghem initially intended to train as a cardiac surgeon but decided to specialise in interventional cardiology instead, following advice from a mentor. This decision was cemented when he read the first-in-human case report of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in Circulation by Alain Cribier in 2002. Prof Van Mieghem believes that great cardiologist genuinely cares for their patients. He names Gary Roubin, Dr Manu Malbrain and Professor Patrick Serruys among his mentors.
Academic History
Prof. Nicolas M. Van Mieghem completed his medical training at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), where he earned both his medical degree and his specialist degree in cardiology. During his time in Leuven, he developed a strong interest in cardiovascular medicine, particularly in the emerging field of minimally invasive cardiac interventions. After finishing his core medical and cardiology training, he pursued multiple advanced…
