Biography
Arif Khokhar is an Interventional Cardiology Fellow and clinical researcher based at The Heart Center, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark. With an elite academic foundation from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, Dr Khokhar has transitioned his clinical focus to mainland Europe, establishing himself as a leading international voice in structural heart interventions.
His research and clinical practice are heavily centred on the lifetime management of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). He specialises in optimising index valve implantations, assessing subclinical leaflet thrombosis, and resolving complex lifetime coronary access issues following transcatheter procedures. His extensive work frequently appears in high-impact international journals, including JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions and the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Collaborating closely with European centres of excellence, Dr Khokhar’s work at Rigshospitalet continues to shape Nordic consensus guidelines and procedural techniques for advanced valvular heart disease.
